Great experience and a beautiful studio!

Our group of 3 were the only ones that ended up signing up for that particular time slot so we had our instructor's undivided attention! She was kind and patient and gave us directions if needed or asked but without hovering. The process was so interesting and also somewhat meditative, and you get to keep the pottery you repair which is great!
Great experience in one of the Japanese art tradition!

The place was welcoming, Taku-Sensei was super great, patient and good English speaker. We enjoyed this Kinstugi workshop a lot, wearing special clothes, and leaving with the little plate we restored afterwards. It's beautiful, we recommend this experience at 100%!
Truly unique and a boatload of fun

We found our way to this nifty studio in Shinjuku where several artisans were at work on kintsugi, pottery, and glass projects. We were greeted and seated on a raised tatami area with low tables and floor cushions. Our instructor was lovely. She spoke almost no English but we found it wasn't necessary -- she showed us what to do and coached us through the whole process. The method we learned is a modern adaptation of traditional kintsugi, as laquer can cause severe allergic reactions (and real gold would have priced this experience into the stratosphere!). It is trickier than I had imagined. Don't go with a belly full of coffee -- you'll want a steady hand to accomplish good results. The finished piece is lovely and quite a memorable souvenir from our time in Japan. We stayed in Shinjuku for the rest of the day exploring the plethora of interesting little shops and restaurants in the area.
Kintsugi Experience, repairing a keepsake from Japan Holiday

After two weeks of travelling and experiencing the culture and history of this beautiful country, our last day was empty of excursion. So my son did a little research and found this option, we all said yes, so we booked a session.
Now I am no where an artist and when the broken bowl was placed in front of me, I was nervous, but the most relaxed & patient teacher talked us all through each step to put together our own unique souvenir.
During our experience, the history was explained and the experience was more appreciated.
100% recommended if you want to truly experience what Japan is about

Not easy to find the place. The lady instructor was great, but her English was just the basic and our additional questions remained not answered. But we were satisfied.
